The Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC) is inviting online applications through its website (https://rac.gov.in) for the recruitment of Scientist ‘B’ positions in various organizations under the Ministry of Defence, including the Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO), Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), Weapons & Electronics Systems Engineering Establishment (WESEE) Delhi, College of Military Engineering (CME) Pune, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Pune, and Selection Centres in Jalandhar, Bhopal, and Bangalore. Eligible candidates include graduate engineers and postgraduates in Science, including final semester students. The Scientist ‘B’ posts are at Level-10 (7th CPC) with a basic pay of Rs. 56,100/- and total emoluments of approximately Rs. 1,00,000/- per month (including HRA and allowances) in metro cities. DRDO, a premier Defence R&D organization, offers challenging career opportunities through its Defence Research & Development Service (DRDS) at various laboratories across India (https://drdo.gov.in). ADA, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Defence, focuses on designing and developing Light Combat Aircraft and designates selected candidates as Scientist/Engineer ‘B’, independent of DRDO (https://ada.gov.in). WESEE Delhi supports the Indian Navy by integrating combat weapons and electronics systems. CME Pune provides technical training for the Indian Army Corps of Engineers (indianarmy.nic.in). AFMC Pune combines medical education with training for Armed Forces’ healthcare needs (afmc.nic.in). Selection Centres in Jalandhar, Bhopal, and Bangalore conduct officer selection for the Indian Army.

Relaxation in upper age limit (As per Govt rules) :

  1. Upto 10 years for Divyangjan category candidates.
  2. The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for serving Central Civilian Govt. employees working in posts which are in the same line or allied cadres only if a relationship could be established that the service already rendered in a particular post will be useful for the efficient discharge of the duties of the advertised posts.
  3. The upper age limit is relaxable for Ex-servicemen including Ex SSCOs/ECOs as per rules in vogue.

NATIONALITY

Only Indian nationals need apply.

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Candidates are required to register online at the RAC website (https://rac.gov.in).
  2. On successful registration, the candidates may login before the closing date of the advertisement to fill the application form online. The candidates are required to upload the requisite certificates (See Para 3 for details), the details of the application fee payment (if not exempted) and lock the application before submission of the same.
  3. Instructions for Candidates working in Government or in Government owned organizations (PSU/Joint venture, Government promoted societies and Government/Non-Government companies/ Agencies/ Entities where Government or Government promoted companies/Agencies/Entities have a combined controlling stake of 50% or more) given below in notification
  4. Candidates are advised to retain a copy of the online recruitment application (pdf format) after locking the online application form.
  5. Only locked/finalised applications in all respects shall be considered.
  6. Points to be considered while filling Application form
    a) The GATE paper and the subject of qualifying degree of the candidates must be as per the discipline-wise table provided (Table 1).
    b) Candidates are advised to be careful while filling their GATE score, as the short listing will be based on the score filled in the application form.
    c) The scrutiny of application will only be done for those candidates who are above the cut off of GATE score, as per the norms of shortlisting specified in the advertisement. A wrongly filled GATE score may automatically result in candidate not getting shortlisted for scrutiny purposes also.

SCREENING/ SHORTLISTING

  1. Eligible candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of GATE score in the ratio of 1:10 subject to their availability in order of discipline-wise category-wise merit list.
  2. The shortlisted candidates will be asked to confirm their willingness to appear for Personal Interview by a given deadline and subsequently select their choice of tentative interview date from the pre-defined calendar dates made available on the RAC website.
  3. The exact dates of interview will be finalized later by RAC and communicated to candidates.
For Divyangjan category vacancies
  1. Eligible Divyangjan (HH), Divyangjan (LD), Divyangjan (AAV) and Divyangjan (Dw) candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of GATE scores in the ratio of 1:10, for the DRDO vacancies reserved for them in the applicable disciplines.
  2. The shortlisted candidates will be asked to confirm their willingness to appear for Personal Interview by a given deadline and subsequently select their choice of tentative interview date from the pre-defined calendar dates made available on the RAC website.
  3. The exact dates of interview will be finalized later by RAC and communicated to candidates.
  4. Information regarding the shortlisted candidates will be made available at RAC website.

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. The shortlisted candidates on the basis of the GATE scores will be required to appear in the Personal Interview to be held at Delhi or any other place as decided by RAC/ DRDO.
  2. The offer of appointment to the selected candidates will be restricted to the number of vacancies in order of merit. The appointment, however, will be subject to satisfying conditions like qualifying the Medical Examination prescribed for Group ‘A’ Technical posts of Govt. of India with Field Service liability and verification of Character & Antecedents besides verification of SC/ST/OBC/EWS/ Divyangjan (HH)/ Divyangjan (LD)/ Divyangjan (AAV)/ Divyangjan (Dw) certificate etc, wherever applicable.
  3. Final result (customised for individual candidate) will be made available at RAC website (https://rac.gov.in).

APPLICATION FEE & MODE OF PAYMENT

General (UR), EWS and OBC male candidates are required to pay a non-transferable non-refundable application fee of Rs 100/- (Rs. One Hundred only) payable online only. There is no application fee for SC/ST/ Divyangjan and women candidates.
